More About Me

The Early Years

I was born in Kent, back in good old 1983. I was born into the Bennett Family, with my Mother, Christine and my Dad Steve. I had 2 brothers at that point, Jake and Rhys. Mark was born in 1989. Sadly, my dad disappeared in 1985 and we have not seen much of him since. Sadly, my mother was taken seriously ill with her mental health in 1985, when my dad went missing and she was sectioned and admitted to hospital. Sadly I was taken into care.

School Years

I went to the local Infants school, before the County Junior School. At that point, no one knew I had Asperser's Syndrome and had no idea why I would not learn. For this, I was expelled from school, with the reason being that I was just too "thick" to learn. I had to have a Special Needs Statement and was sent to Boarding School. Gosden House really helped me and bought out the best in me. The residential life bought me out my shell and made me who I am today.

I went to Secondary School when I was 11 and did not have a good 1st two years there. Sadly, I was being sexually and physically abused in the Children's Home where I lived and no one would believe me. The Social Workers, School and the Police ignored my cries for help and ignored the fact that I was being abused, even though it was blatantly clear that something was wrong, after all, I had clothes that were too small for me, I came into school with broken ribs, bruises and head lice. This is something I still find a bitter subject, as I am still very very angry t the people who had the power to stop the abuse.

My uncle Mike and my Aunty Bink got me out the awful Kids Home and I was moved into a temporary placement with Jane and her daughter Cate. I had some really good times in this placement and ended up there for 2 brilliant years. I then went into a specialist placement with Ursula and Paul. I had a brilliant time there, passed my GCSE's, went to College and studied GNVQ in IT and then went to Uni and studied Computer Science.

Adult Life

My Adult life has not been that brilliant. I have had lots of abuse as a adult too. Several abusive boyfriends, 2 abusive landlords and in 2004, I was diagnosed with MS. Then in 2005, I was viciously raped and diagnosed as HIV Positive. This is the 1st time I have posted about my HIV status on the net.  However, my HIV status is still healthy, which is good.

Then this year, the MS got very bad over 3 months. It started with intermittent loss of feeling in my legs, then my legs getting very tired and then I lost the use of both of them, so I  can now only walk 3 - 4 steps. The rest of the time, I am stuck in a wheelchair. I now live with my 2 carers, (Andy and Rick) who have 2 dogs, (Mollie and Freddie) a Rabbit called George and 2 Budgies who think the world of me.

Passions and Politicts

A more indepth look at Abortion

Now on the subject of abortion, I understand the arguments on both sides quite well. There is a legitimate concern for at what point a developing child gains rights of his or her own not to be harmed. It is my firm belief that that cutoff point is the moment that it is able to demonstrate capacity for responses to stimuli beyond reflex. In other words, it needs to be able to think. Before that, it is my opinion that the parents should be given the full opportunity to abort. Once the cutoff is reached, abortions should then still be possible if the condition are such that the mother likely will not survive to bring the developing child to term, but these types of circumstances are quite rare.

In general, if you have reached the point your developing fetus can think and haven’t decided to abort yet, you should go through with it and put the child up for adoption. The science appears to still be out on when a fetus is able to think.

Gay Marriage

Some of the worst arguments in the history of debate are used in this subject. Often they’re inane religious arguments. I’ve seen the passages most often cited as arguments against gay marriage in the Bible, and I’m just not convinced. Half of the passages cited are effectively invalidated by the coming of Jesus and are intermixed with other guidelines we’d be horrified to follow now. Read Leviticus. Even so, just like nearly every other passage contained in the vast collection of writings, the wording is far too vague to make a hard-line interpretation that says anything explicit on the subject. I refuse to buy into any religious arguments, because there’s too much room to play with those words so they say approximately what you want them to.

Point number one in favor of gay marriage in keeping with my overall philosophy is you don’t have to have one if you don’t want one. No one sane is advocating that marriage to someone of the same-sex be compulsory. Anyone that claims it hurts the sanctity of their marriage or cheapens the definition of marriage doesn’t really seem to have much confidence in the integrity of their marriage.

Pet Peeves

My biggest pet peeve is people who have a problem with me, but wont tell me to my face. Instead, they get someone else to tell me because they are too chicken to tell me to my face. This really annoys me, because people do not have the guts to tell me they have a problem with me and I think it is rather ignorant of people.

My other major pet peeve is people who discriminate me because of my disability. It is not my fault that I have MS and I wish people would stop discriminating me because of this. If people understood my my disability, maybe they would be understanding towards me.

My Unusual Allergies

I suffer with a medical condition called Anaphylaxis. This is where the body has a severe allergic reaction and causes swelling to the wind pipe, hives and can lead to death. I do however carry what is called an Epi-Pen, which releases Adrenaline when injected; thus saving my life.

My allergies are as follows:

* Triggers Anaphylactic Shock

This makes medication very difficult for me and also my food habits, because I am allergic to so many things. Some things do not trigger a full blown Anaphylactic Reaction, but still cause me problems in other ways. Thus the reason why I have a problem with so many pain killers.
